How should we refer to the UK Workshop bench?
I don’t want to upset anyone!!

I need to get back to Ian first thing tomorrow morning...suggestions? - Rob

Whats the mater with you Rob, why are you stirring this up again your just trying to make trouble again  . You threw your toys out of your pram, then picked them up again and agreed to be just a bunch of blokes having a good day out (without UK Workshop heading). And now your starting all over again

IMHO I don't think your the person for this.

Tom
Its not like you guys are going to be selling something and using the UK Workshop name to sell it - its a free event and to have a bench offered is a good thing. It shows the respect that the forum has in the "real world" and I'm glad that members of out community are willing to give their time to represent it.
Just my opinion,
Philly :D

I'm attempting, and clearly failing in your particular case, to organize something for the benefit of the forum and it's members by asking the membership what to put in the promotional literature that Axminster are about to publish.

Unless of course you'd like us to be described as #####...

...which is probably apt in your case. Post reported - Rob

A members display and meeting point for a well known internet UK Woodworking Forum.

I'll second this title, but seeing as Philly has more or less given the go ahead to use the UK Workshop title how about

Talking Tools -

A members display and meeting point for the UK Workshop internet forum.

Or something similar.

Cheers

Aled

P.S. Is someone able to recommend a (cheap) hotel in the area for the friday night. Please PM me in order to stop the thread from running off topic - Cheers

Rob, you started this off your own back, and was reminded by several members about using UK Workshop without permission. You then did as I said in my post (toys, pram etc) then you calmed down and agreed to not use UK Workshop name (yes you did and was happy with that) then you post about promotional info with UK Workshop name
Bringing this all up again..

All I have done is asked why you have done this.

At no time have I used any personnal abuse towards you , nor have I used any offensive language unlike yourself. I strongly object to being called that name   and I too have reported your post.

If this is the best you can do by swearing and personnal name calling it shows how low you are prepared to go to get your own way. And clearly not the person to be potenially in charge of an event that may have UK Workshop approval

I know Phil, I was just quoting Noel so everyone didn't think it was me being negative again ;)

Rob

There is a really simple solution to this.

Use the UKW name in the promotional material.

You are personally getting no benefit from it, and I completely agree with the points made by Philly - why would we not want to promote the website?

If it really pi$$es the owner off that much he can get an injunction against you to stop you partaking under the name of UKW. You can then revert to being a tw@t. :D

Cheers

its pretty clear from robs post that he has asked again what we would like to be called because ian styles has asked him. (and he never mentioned using the UKW name in this thread)

I cant see a problem with that

as to the "TWATS" that was suggested (in jest) as an acronym higher up this thread so it is hardly rob using offensive language.

I dont know what your personal agenda is or why you have decided to snipe at rob over this when he is trying to set something up to benefit us all but it shows you in a pretty poor light imo

Back on topic - I'd concur with aled, as philly has now given you permission to use the UKW name theres no problem

"talking tools ... a display by ukw members" or "UKW members talk tools" or similar.

Big Soft Moose, Since when is foul language in jest when clearly aimed at someone whom your annoyed with. Is there any need for foul language on this forum. There has been in the past young members reading the posts (maybe they still do) is this good example to set.

Obviously yes in yours & Rob''s case, which is a shame.

This isn't an attack, I'm just asking questions about something that HAD ALREADY BEEN SORTED, that's all  .

I think the issue is consulting the members (us) too much. As I said elsewhere on this matter. This is no democracy. Rob, you're in charge of this. I suggest you make the decision. This subject is clearly causing upset in some pockets of the forum and sometimes people just need to be led.

gardenshed, I see where you are coming from to a degree, but there is no need to attack Rob, who is just trying to keep everyone happy.

Let's just finish this conversation now and look forward to the event.

Oh God this is ridiculous, I wish I hadn't said anything (which for the benefit of Gardenshed I did, not Rob, so if anyone's guilty of "stirring things up again" it's me).
I raised this again as I said, because I missed all but the barest bones of the original thread. I was surprised at the scenario because from my vague memory of Rob's original post I understood we had been invited by Ian Stiles as members of a particular organisation i.e. UKW, and couldn't see why we had got to the stage where we couldn't appear as such.

It was not my intention to inflame, and I apologise if my post has opened old wounds, but I really can't see any need for such a strong reaction any more than I can understand the original problem with using the name.

Who, what, where, when, how? :? :?

Anyway, it wasn't me, I wasn't here and I never have been.

garden - flounder said the above (in jest) - robs point was thast unless we came up with a serious name that was the calibre of the suggestion so far

he probably shouldnt have said that it might be apt in your case granted - but that was under provocation.

The point is/was that although we had been told we couldnt use the ukw name (though it now seems that we can) what the stand would be called had not yet been "sorted" and that was what rob was trying to sort with this thread.

Rob - I agree with tom , you are in charge of this wing ding and whatever name you pick will be fine with me (and i would suspect most others who are taking part)
