Tablesaw outfeed area

Trying to rejig the layout of my workshop on paper at the moment and am running into the problem of where to locate the tablesaw. I can either place it in the centre of the workshop, which is a pain because it eats space, or on or towards one wall. For those of you that do not have your TS in the middle of the floor, do you find the lack of an outfeed table a problem, and how much room do members generally feel is sufficient to the RHS of the blade and behind the blade? I do not cut full sheets, and rarely half sheets. Saw will almost certainly be on wheels of some description for the times I do need to.

I have a kity 419, table size is 600 deep x 400 wide, with up to two additional RHS extensions of 300mm each to make 1M total width. Would love to keep both extensions since using only 1 means cutting the long rails, but I am struggling to fit both in :roll:

Hmm, with a bit more jigging, a fold down outfeed table is a possibility!

I have the sip table saw and have it on wheels with a out feed sheet/table hinged and cut to clear the floor when down. I just position the saw fold up the table and put a roller stand under it works fine for me just a little difficult to arrange the fixing of the hinge but it only done once.

This is the arrangement I have with my Kity 419.

1200 X 1200.

Has always worked well for me. I also use it as an assembly table.

I have a fold-down outfeed table on my tablesaw. It's made as a torsion-box construction and moves with the saw. It's great in a small and cramped workshop - there when I need it, out of the way when I don't.

Hi Stevie,

I have a 10ft x 42" wide bench which doubles as an outfeed table for the T/S. You do have to keep your bench tidy though!!!

At some point I will put some pictures of my workshop up on here!! (Total size of workshop is 30ft x 12ft)

I have the same set up as Richard.

I'm hoping to upgrade this to something better but it will still be this size and in the same place. This one is too light and has no bench dog facility.

I had the same set up with my Kity 419 and it worked fine. A workmate to one side for the table saw is used to keep tools as it's lowerin height so doesn't get in the way of either the table saw fence or the out feed table.

Good evening,
Designing a new workshop is really a difficult task ](*,) . So many questions and so few certainties. I spent time sketching mine and finally decided to tackle the issue not from available room but the most common dimension I expected to use : floor to ceiling. So I needed 2.5m before the saw blade and after the spindle moulder. Given my workbench stood against a wall the outfeed table ended 1400x250x50mm.

Made up of 10mm laminate, oak rails and styles, it's so light and strength I decided adding two shop-made fittings so that I could put an remove it without tool. It stands along a wall close from the table and makes the process quick and easy. Table saw stays in the center with removable outfeed table.

I'm having similar troubles. I think I'm going to go with a slim outfeed table with a flip up top to make it bigger for assembly.

As with anything in a small workshop, put it on wheels and at least you can easily move things about.

I use an offcut of kitchen worktop as an outfeed table on my SIP tablesaw. It folds down when not required, gives good support and takes up little space. I used the folding brackets from here

My TS out feed table doubles as a router table, which has a lift off fence. Then at the end of the out feed table is the radial arm saw, so the out feed table supports the timber being cut on the RAS.
All this in about 8`.

Thank you, some very nice workshops and solutions there. I must admit I hadn't thought of hinging to outfeed table off the back of the saw I was trying to hinge it off the cabinet to the side of it for some reason - which if I ever move the saw means the outfeed table wouldn't travel with it.

Mine is the same as James's. My router table is is placed close to the outfeed side of the table saw and is, in effect the outfeed table.
This is fine unless I need to cut a board more than about 1600mm wide. I that case I have to remove the router table fence but that takes seconds and I have a place to hold it out of the way on the front of a cupboard.
Everything is on wheels but I rarely need to move anything.
If I need to cut a long length I open the door and set up a roller stand behind the router table/outfeed table.
It works a treat.
Of course it also means that the TS acts as an infield table for the router table if there are long lengths to rout.

I first thought about adding a temporary type shelf then changed my mind and made a cupboard on wheels, as in this pic

The only problem though it gets used as an assembly table :lol: as in these pics
