Main club night tonight so off I go to come back home and find that Sue has been at it again burning this

And making this out of it

The spalted ash looked dirty rather than attractive so I have to say it's a vast improvement IMHO.

It's 7" diameter, 2 1/2" tall and approx 4 mm thick.

All I can say is you had better stay out of her way a bit more often Pete.
Excellent work Sue, the amount of effort to produce a 'negative' design over such an area shows a considerable amount of patience and concentration. The pattern balance is good a very striking random autumnal fallen leaves look.

Thank you Mark. The old proverb about silk purses and sows ears comes to mind. I am going to raid my 'reject' box to see what else she can breathe some life into

Lovely pyrography there - and so difficult to do deep down inside an opening like that. I agree that the pyrography really improves the piece and makes it come alive.

Like that very much Pete and congrats to Sue looks very nicely done. Whats the finish on the pyro?

These just have buffed sealer on them at the moment. I'll probably polish up with Ren wax.

That is a vast improvement to the piece Sue
I bet you can't wait for Pete to go out so you can get on and do the burning

I wish I had such patience and talent. I'd say you should leave a few others lying around next time you go for a wander or meeting. Lovely. Not something I've seen done often either. I think it looks all the better and more unusual for the leaves being left pale like this.

Some of us find it hard enough just to scribble their own name or little cartoon face with these things, nevermind a whole pattern in negative.
