I was going to use your case to illustrate why buying the Charnwood might not be a good idea Larry.......but thought better of it :)

If you look in the metal working forum you will notice thankfully I do have one working bandsaw :)

Having two bandsaws is just plain showing off Larry!!!

Mine arrives from Toolstop tomorrow (today) too James! Can't wait! Didn't know about the discount code - d'oh! Although it was such a good price I'm not that bothered. I'll probably invest in an 80 tooth laminate blade at some point but will see how I get on first... Let me know your thoughts on blades once you're set up!

Pick up the saw today, unpacked it and spent 30 mins or so setting up. Initial impressions...brilliant! Very very accurate, not as loud as I thought and the blade is pretty good. Although I plan to get a fine toothed one. Wish I got one a long while ago, and very much looking forward to using it on kitchen install week after next.

Just finished putting mine together! Did you get the stand for yours? Haven't tried cutting anything yet but seems VERY sturdy and well put together. The stand is excellent although the assembly instructions are dire. Major issue for me right now is that the rip fence is damaged and will need replaced - clearly been squashed in the box. Total PITA as I need to do work this weekend ready for a job next week. Grrr...

Just done some test cuts - wow! As you say James - VERY accurate! Also tried cutting some laminate with the standard blade and the top cuts are perfect - did 20 or so (I use left over laminate to make little mixing palettes for 2-part filler!). Only thing I'm *slightly* disappointed about (apart from the broken rip fence) is the crappy plastic latch that holds the throat plate on - can't see that lasting. Other than that - so far so good! :)

Anyone know why "Rabbeting, slotting or grooving is not allowed"? Presumably since you'd have to remove the riving knife... ?

Well just a quick shout out and hats off to toolstop.co.uk - when I told them about the knackered rip fence they offered to replace the whole saw. Explained I needed it for a job and they got straight on to Dewalt - shiny new rip fence arrived today and they don't even want the old one back! Awesome customer service - very impressed. Cue finding something to build with a broken rip fence... :)

I had a spare rip fence floating around my shed for years before finally using it as part of a router thicknessing sled. Your fence will eventually come in handy!
