Ok, so I've got 15 picture frames to make, and probably many more in the future. My sister is a photographer and is churning out photos at a hell of a rate. :)

I want to get some strap clamps, probably five, so I can glue a few up at once. They need to have a quite large capacity, maybe capable of clamping 1.5m square frames.

Does anybody have any recommendations? Are the cheaper ones, such as this, any good? or should I just go for the corners and a rachet strap?

What do you use?

TIA

I've used the cheap version and apart from the fact that they can be a bit of a pain to get them into position initially, they have proved effective not only on picture frames but on other projects such as planters when I wanted to glue up four sides at the same time.

I've used these which are good for the price but can be a bit fiddly without your third arm!

Hi Simon

I have the ones that you've shown and the one that Brian used and both of them are just lying in one of the drawers and did not see day light for a few years...

I bought some straps with ratchet for the car and I found them to be the best...you can apply very high tension and they will not slide back like the ones in my drawer...

Cheers fellas.

Niki, I never thought about making my own corners, that is an excelent idea. Thank you for taking the trouble to post the pictures.

Simon - I use this one from Axminster. It uses a tempered steel band and screw thread to really rachet up the pressure. Whereas there may be a small amount of 'give' with a fabric band, there's none whatsoever with the steel one. I've used the same one now for at least 12 years and have had no problems with it, expands to a large size as well (3'x2' approx) which is more than enough for my needs - Rob

I would like to second the views of woodbloke. I have got a set of these clamps and they are fantastic!!!!!!! I use them for gluing up jewellery boxes and the amount of pressure you can put on them is great, also they are more even with the pressure than others I have used.
