Wizer I reckon you could build that for less but not much less if you use shiplap. Shop around for prices - obvious I know - but shiplap for instance I had quoted huge differences in price (T&P actually came out best and free del). Currently building a 10x8 shed from 2x1's I really think they'd be more than adequate for this and you'd get more space ;).
I have a book from Taunton - Build a Shed Like a Pro that has some nice tips for building a lean too (and other stuff) ... Happy to scan something for you if you don't have it.
It's a tricky one - because it is time consuming and means less time for furniture making as Ed says. I wouldn't justify it on money alone - I think you have to want to make yourself for the enjoyment factor.
Cheers
Gidon

That'd be great if there are some tips in that book you think might help? Perhaps I could borrow it if I pay for all postage costs? (Cheeky, moi?)

I actually would quite like to build it and as it's not got to be habitable in any way, the build should be quite quick. I can do it on the warm mornings through out the summer. It's not like I am creating much fine furniture at the moment anyway. As long as the materials can be covered then there's no rush. I certainly have the tools (Paslode, SCMS). Having it fit the space I need it to go in will be a bonus, as well as adding goo hinges and locks.

So yeh, I'm going to build it. I'll post my design later for people to pull apart. I've designed it in 2x2 so I might go back and alter it to 2x1 as recommended here. Tho surely you don't save space using 2x1's?

No you don't save space but it is cheaper and that was a driver for you yesterday?

yes, sorry I was picking up on gidon's comment about space. I'm waiting for my supplier to get back to me with prices. I worked it out to be 100lm of 2x2. When baby has her nap I'll draw it up in 2x1

I would buy 100x50 and rip it into three finishing up with 30x50 slightly stronger than 2x1
good excuse to use your new saw should end up being cheaper as well.

Good idea Johnf,

30 x 50 will be 1.7 x stiffer than 25 x 50 for the main framing.

Just will need a few specials 25 thick to pair up at the door and window heads or 50 x 50.
