But you'd never see it unless squinting down the open end of the slot?
The inner face/bottom of the cut is curved. In soft wood and with glue ìt doesn't show but in hardwood of 8mm & over it shows as a faint elipse. This application I want for visible box joints for visible decorative work, not for long housings where the 'groove' is filled with a panel edge.

I would be cutting a maximum of 12mm in a pass.

I use a 3mm and 6mm flat top grooving blade for making box joints. They do the job perfectly. For wider grooves multiple passes are easy. No need for a dado stack and my saw has too short a spindle to use one. If I need wide dado's I made a dado jig to be used with my 1/2 inch router.

Personally, I hate risk. The dewalt table saw is not meant to be used with more than the single blade, so I would not take the risk. Especially as that risk will only increase the cut made by a kerf width.

I would use a jig and a single blade or a router. You get the job done. It may take a little longer, but you decrease the risk.
I dont go looking for risk either thats why I mentioned those provisos in my last post.

John

Thanks to everyone who has taken the time to offer advice. I had decided to go down the CMT 6mm x 150 diameter line and use it in a jig when I saw their site says their blades may be stacked so that is another consideration.

As my solicitor has announced today that our house sale should complete on 21st of this month I think I shall have more pressing matters on my mind!

Depending on the kerf size you're looking to achieve, CMT do thick kerf blades on Amazon. Sure they're probably for sale elsewhere too.
Only 180mm diameter so you'd sacrifice a little cutting depth, and you'd have to remove the riving knife, but shouldn't be an issue given it'd be for grooving cuts.

Scott and Sargeant sell the CMT grooving blades in 3, 4, 5 and 6mm widths. See here, look down the page for "flush groover". Sadly CMT do not yet make a 6.35mm or 6.5mm. It is best to go with a 150mm dia blade on a 10" saw as you only want 1/4" cut depth but the saw has enough torque to cut a wide groove. I did have to modify the riving knife on my small table saw. The dewalt I had before you could just remove the riving knife, not so the Hikoki.
These blades are legal. Effective. Safe. and at £50 a lot cheaper than skin grafts.

Loose Dado stacks are not legal in this country because, unlike the US, NZ and Australia, EU law mandated that an electronic brake must stop the rotation of the saw blade within (iirc) 5 seconds. The mass of a dado stack, and the fact that the blades and spacers can rotate independently of one another, could cause the stack to loosen the arbour nut when braked.

CMT have solved this with a type of dado stack see wherein the blades and spacers are locked together and should not cause loosening when stopping. However, not many saws on the market in Britain actually have an arbour sufficiently long to accommodate it. As far as I am aware, the Laguna Fusion 2 & 3 are the only saws which can, and my slider isn't, so I've not tried it.
