For some time I've been tinkering with loudspeakers and subwoofers, with mixed success. Recently I've had the fortune to realise some of my designs with the help of several talented people.

Unfortunately due to circumstances beyond anyones control my colleague who helps with my enclosure designs can no longer provide his support for health reasons.

So to cut a long winded story short I'm looking for some one with more than a passing interest in hifi that would be willing to build my designs. Someone local would be ideal [to Oxfordshire] but not essential.

Anyone interested can look at my current hi fi projects.

Many thanks for your time!

Don't worry it's the spam restriction of the site.

I love your designs. Sadly I'm not local or skilled enough. Is it a turner you require?

I'm a turner and local to oxfordshire - but i doubt i have the cabinet making skills to build the square section speakers.

Many thanks for all the replies, and thanks for the update on posting links.

WiZeR, thank you for the compliment.

I'm particularly looking for a cabinet maker but it would be good to have contacts with a wood turner too. Many people admire my designs and show an interest in getting their own.

IMHO they also sound as good as they look :)

Paul - definately !

I designed my last sub to be assembled from CNC panels out of walnut veneered ply. It was an expensive lesson as I had to make several cabinets to "fix" my design oversights. Anyone with expertise in this is a real asset.

Very nice looking speakers, I sometimes think about re-shelling my AE speakers - as nice as steamed beech plastic veneer is, it isn't quite the same as solid wood!

Hope you find the help you need

Good looking speakers. I was looking at Wilmslow Audio yesterday with a view to building a pair of bookshelf units, but they don't appear to do them (they did in the past) - Rob

IIRC Wilmslow split ownership and the speaker kits are sold by the other owner. I'll try to remember the name, i'm sure you'll find it on avforums

Try this section of their website, they only offer two choices though.

I'm happy to offer some help if you want to build a small pair of good qulaity monitors.

OOI what do the 'innards' of a good quality pair of speakers cost?

Depends what you call good quality.

I reckon kits are about 25-40% retail:retail (obviously the manufacturers get the drivers for less), but you are reliant on the crossover designer to get it right.

All of my designs now employ a single range driver. What this means is that there is no need for a crossover, it's basically a "staight through" design.

Any design choice in Hi Fi has it positives and it's drawbacks, single range drivers are no exception but I think the benefits of this design outweigh the pitfalls. It's then down to the cabinet design to make the most out the driver.

Give me a shout if you want more information or a hand designing cabinets.

Forgot to say that these drivers weigh in at about £100 each, but IMHO the qulaity is unrivalled
