Hi,
Can anyone give me some solid timber matches to this veneer.

Obvious ones are Macassar ebony, possibly zebrano any others which look similar, I need a few solid bits for lippings.

The veneer is a man made one by the way.

I've used that veneer (or one very similar) quite a bit in my last job.

It looks alright with walnut timber, or if the shape allows you could veneer your solid to match. But I think the most frequent solid lipping we used with it was oak with a very dark smoke stain applied.

Alpiwood website appears to have been down for a while, I'll give them a call.

I think a dark stained oak as well would do it, we are putting dark oak stain over the veneer to tone it down.

Timberline have a good amount of solid Macasscar Ebony which would be the ideal match. From what I saw about a month ago there should be enough to lip several hundred cabinet doors!

You wil have to quater saw it as the manmade has narrower stripes that the true veneer which is usually crown cut.

How thick do you need the lipping bob? We often glue 3 or 4 sheets of the veneer together to ger a 2-3mm thick lippping which is a perfect match for the veneer.

cheers
