Soft wood purchase

I am considering an internal stud wall,(the double garage) and lining the wall. (8ft. high 17ft wide.

I could also do with a quality shed which is draft proof for a turning space.
Assume shed 8'x4' and a fence to hide it 6'.6" high 7ft long.(leanto shed)

What do you reckon the cost of purchasing softwood for all of this idea?

Stud wall be the easiest - can't see it being more than couple of hundred at the most. Shed - haven't a clue unfortunately, nor the fence - sorry.

You mean making a shed yourself from scratch? This summer I made a wood store shed which was 2m x 1.2m and the materials came to under £150. I reckon you could do your turning shed for about £200-250 if you are adding insulation, windows etc.

Can't believe I'm saying this in my first post on a woodworking forum but have you considered this for the stud wall? :shock:

Over here in France it is a considerably cheaper way to do stud walls than with wood. Might not be the same in UK.

That metal stuff is horrible tho. I've used it and wouldn't again. Timber is much nicer.

The reason for suggesting the metal approach for studwork was based on experience here in France which, as I said, may well be different from UK.

We live in one of the most heavily wooded areas of the country with huge trucks loaded with wood and sawmills everywhere. The cost of wood still brings tears to the eyes. :x

Just for the record I am an aged beginner and am in the process of amassing a few tools for my workshop.

I have been"lurking" a bit and find the site to be first class.
