I've made myself a couple of saw-boards of ripping down sheet goods, however the monster that is the large triton saw is a real pain to use for this operation. So, considering I'll only be needing a saw to cut 18mm-25mm sheet goods, I'm after a very small but portable circular saw.

Battery life isn't too much of an issue as I don't cut a lot of sheet goods on a regular basis.

Is there such a thing available? Any owner comments would be much appreicated.

Cheers!

Then I would opt out for a cordless CS. Batteries work best is used frequently.

Aye, I can understand that, but portability is quite high on my list of requirements. I no longer have my work van, so one of the idea's was to use it to cut down sheet materials in the B&Q/Wickes carpark to get it into my car

you could look at the ryobi +1 system - the batteries are common across all tools so can be used more frequently in drills, drivers etc then whacked in the CS when needed.

Byron - I believe there was a similair thread within the last couple of weeks - a quick scan through might prove useful.

Cheers

Karl

Edit - here it is.

I second the Ryobi suggestion. I have a few of there tools. The batteries see use in the drill mostly but when I need a cordless circular or recpricating saw they are ready.

I should mention that it is a 18v.

thanks fella's, I've heard a lot of good things about the Ryobi 1+ range as a general, so I'll definitly check that out.

Thanks for the link Karl, I'll take a read.

I have a ryobi 12v drill/driver which is fine and has a couple of batteries but the cs I got with it seems to drain the batteries almost immediately for some reason and is pretty uselss as a result.

I got a small 12v makita cs or trim saw though as I have loads of makita 12v batteries and it's brill ! Looks small and puny but cuts yards of 18mm mdf or ply on a single battery no problems at all. I use it in car parks and similar also but also grab it in the workshop for quick cut-off or trimming jobs.

Cheers, Paul :D

Our B&Q cut sheets down for free, maybe yours does?

They do, but if you could see the primate that operates the saw, I think you would agree with me :)

The best one on the market is the new Panasonic one 14.4V lithium.
It will be available probably next week; the product code is ey4542.
Fantastic circular saw(multi cutter) I have tried a demo and it was really impressive.
The good thing is that you can use the same battery with a vaste range of power tools.
http://www.panasonic.co.uk/html/en_GB/292317/index.html

Price will be around 250+vat.
If u are interested i can give u more details.
