Hi,

I've picked up some bargain carpet for the stairs and landing but would like to tidy up the skirting before fitting it.

The landing is at two levels, seperated by a step.

The skirting board runs along the topmost level then steps down onto the next level, at the moment it it just cut off at the ends and doesn't look very well finished.

How do I measure the angles required to slope from the top most floor down the step to meet the skirting board below? And does anyone have a picture of what would 'look right'

thanks

Would this be the right way to do it?

Thats how I've done it in the past. The alternative is a very deep skirting that you scribe to the stair, but thats not easily achievable.
