libellous, slander or defamation of character NO. I was just sharing an opinion , be it a bit defiant or just out of frustration. I apologize if anyone took this the wrong way.

Why do I keep reading the title of this thread as 'Jigs and ****'??????? Are my little grey cells that depleted.

Not too sure about 'libellous'. Erroneous maybe, ill advised probably, none of our business certainly.

Suggesting that the admin staff is running this forum in such a way as to maximise the 'perks' that can be gleaned is libellous because it is a false allegation designed to lower them in the estimation of the other members of this forum. It is disparaging and exposes the admin staff to contempt.

There are no 'perks' for the admin staff on this forum. Everything the administrators do goes unrewarded and in Charley's case it actually costs him because he funds the forum. The adverts go some way towards mitigating his costs but whenever there's a shortfall, he dips into his own pocket.

Sometimes I wonder why he and the rest of the admin staff bother putting themselves out when frequently their only reward is disparagement.

Please, Please, let's not turn this thread into another argument. What goes on behind the scenes is none of our business at all. This is a nice friendly request to the Admin staff for a new section. Actually, if you look at the amount of support in this thread, you can probably gather that the majority of the board do not want a new section. So hammering the point is a little pointless.

As usual I have to poke my nose, my only criticism is not of the members comments or the mods replies, but with Charlies reticence to reply, to draw an analogy, the same thing is happening with the PM, if you are in charge, then let everyone know that that is the case, if Charley comes out and says NO to the jigs section, then thats the end of the matter, if you allow the argument/debate to run on and on when there is no prospect of it happening then dissent and doubt will follow as to who is running the forum, this is not to say that the mods and Charley don't do a good job, ( I've been censored enough, I don't have a problem with that)
But if it's a non starter, as has been said before, then come right out and say so.
I for one would LOVE to see a jigs section, if it's not on, so be it.

Regards,
Rich

I'd love a jig section as well, but as Rich suggests, it's a damn longway from that to suggesting there's something wrong with the mods.
Rather them to the task than yours truly and despite having had the odd rollicking I raise my hat to them!

I don't know what my strongest response is. Sadness, shock, disgust? I can't believe that some members have such a low opinion of Charley and the mods. They don't get paid, there are no perks, just lots of hassle and, in Charley's case, a financial burden, not a golden goose.

It is not just a case of pushing a couple of menu options and lo!, we have a new forum. That forum has to be moderated, which means yet more responsibility to those people who so generously offer to keep things running smoothly.

Charley has made it clear before that he does not want to increase the number of forums, and we should respect that. He has quite enough to do already.

For anyone who wants to access all the jiggy stuff in one place can I suggest the following?

Learn to use the Bookmark facility in your browser. IE and Firefox both have this, and if you use several computers you can install the Google toolbar and use that, which means you have access to your favourites wherever you are. Whenever you find a post on jigs, or anything else you want to keep, bookmark it under a section which you can call Jigs. You will be able to see all the threads on that subject and no-one else has to do any work for you.

Now that is constructive. I do think that some people should feel ashamed of themselves, but I don't suppose they do. It's one thing to ask for a new forum, it's another to make totally groundless assertions about people who do a fantastic and obviously thankless task.

Steve, your missing the point I think, nobody is decrying Charley or the mods who all do a FANTASTIC job, but there is one easy way to finish this thread, and that is for Charley to speak up, perhaps he's to busy at the moment, that's fair enough, but this thread is going nowhere without a decision from on high.

Rich.

...and I want a platinum toilet seat, but somehow I have managed to muddle through life without it.

I know, lets have someone make a comment that's not really controversial at all, and then everyone else can overreact and compete to show how much more offended than the previous person they can be! Seems to be the usual fair sometimes, failing that...

LOOK, something made out of wood!

Well I am another one who would like a jig section. I would also like to see the person who made such an uncalled for attack on Charley and the moderators banned. Such an attack is disgusting and saddens me deeply. I think that what Steve has said is the right of it and as far as I am concerned it is entirely upto Charley as to whether or not he feels like replying. And one other point to note, is that there is a section for suggestions and ideas for the forum. It might get a better response if this request was posted there.

Best wishes

John

I'd rather this thread was just locked now. Shame on all those who took it out of context and turned it into an argument.

This is getting silly!

When I come onto this site, I liken it to being invited into Charlie's house and as a guest who would like to stay, abide by his rules written or implied.

If I did not like his curtains I might mention it, if he reacted badly or chose to ignore my comments, I'd take a hint & keep my opinions to myself.

We have had a daft discussion before about the millions Charlie makes out of this site - mainly from visitors from another planet.

If I was Charlie I'd switch the server off !!!

A shame this has gotten a bit heated...I was reading Steve M's post and it did make me think....
Personally I do use the bookmark tool quite a lot and I don't know about other browsers but in firefox I can even organise the bookmarks with folders etc...
So when I find a good jig or something then I post a bookmark...
I think that the benefit with having a jigs section is that for new people coming along they have a central resource for looking for jigs and don't need to start at the beginning by compiling their own bookmarks...
People will say you can just search on the internet and find many links to different jigs etc..but I for one find the standard of the jigs, pictures and explanations posted on this forum to be very high and am a lot more willing to trust and try jigs posted on here...
I guess the alternative could be that someone with their own web space (and most of us get some free with our internet package) compiles a list of hyperlinks to all the jigs etc in this forum? I'd be glad to do that myself but it feels like it is taking something away from the forum or treading on toes.
I am not knocking anyone and think the forum is great but it really does seem like there is a demand here...I have some time on my hands so if some extra resource is needed to help set it up the I will gladly volunteer as I am sure many would..
Just a few thoughts anyway..certainly seems to be some strong feelings about this subject..
Cheers everyone
Timmo

I could be wrong, but I'd have thought that this should have started in the suggestions section?

I too think that the Mods and Charley do a great job, and really appreciate the chance to give my opinions, start conversations and LEARN.

Maybe the mods should just lock this thread (before it gets much more out of hand) and if Charley is open to the idea of a Jigs section, start a poll in the suggestions thread to see if a majority of members want it?
