I have just sharpened my hollow moulding plane (off ebay and old) to ALF's advice and used the plane to cut some gradually tapering reed in a cherry board.
Wow what an awesome thing it was so nice to take shaving after shaving that was paper thin (ciggarette paper). The iron on the thing is old but great. I really doubted that I was going to get it to work but the when I did it was awesome the sound was great as i whoosed through the wood. Its the most fun i have had in the last couple of months with wood. I just wish i had some more grooves to make.
