Having bought the axi aw12busby2 nearly a month ago, I had seen a digital fence readout at Allendale. Looked quite good and the second factor was the price. Quite sensible for a digi that will read upto 5 feet. So ordered over phone on Friday and the unit was in my hands Monday lunch time.

The two ali rails at the join that take the mag pickup strips

The fixing of the unit took the best part of the afternoon, but as you will see from the pictures I wanted it fixed properly. I drilled and taped two 6mm holes for each bracket that fix to the saw fence rail.

The right part of the bracket (4 in total) I had to supply so that the magnetic track didn't hit the fine adjuster on the fence ie lower its position.

Bottom bracket (supplied 4) fixed to the magnetic rail.

The digi read out bracket is then fixed to the fence and either side of the scale is a magnet which then holds onto the bracket. (simple and works well)

Read out of the unit. Can toggle between mm and inch.

Although it took a little time to fit and zero I fell that it was well worth buying. It comes into its own when changing cutting measurements often. Test measure with a rule is spot on every time. All for under £100....(forgetting my labour) The whole system is quite nicely out of the way but very useable.

Next purchase will be for a scaled digi for my Record PT300. Watch this space.

I have no connection with the supplier or manufacturer. Just feel that when you find a product that is good and has a sensible price harp about it

oooooooooooooooooooooooooooh I love a gadget! I must resist..

Well I love a gadget as much as the next man, but I'd take some convincing to move away from my tape measure / steel rule.

Be interesting to hear how you get on with it after you've had it a while - sort of long term test.

Cheers, Ed

I guess it needs extensive testing and retesting and then re-checking to see if it goes out of true after time. But if you trust your digital calipers, then there should be no reason not to trust this.

Well its had two days use, checked with a rule am, used all day checked pm with rule and well the ruler still says what the scale on the digi says. Will keep you guys updated

Here are three photos taken to check calibration. Calibrated when unit was fitted to saw. Today test cut and checked with vernier caliper.

Reading on digi scale.

Not bad for woodwork. Miles out in engineering terms.

I find with my SIP that i have to remove the fence and clean the three rubbing strips etc from time to time would this still be easy to do.

Old, if it is just the fence you remove not the fence rail, it will not cause a problem. The digi box is fitted to the fence by the use of a magnet one the box side. Pull apart, then lift fence. Box stays on its own rail.

Hope that helps
