Saw blade question

You will always get breakout on the unsupported back of the timber, unless you screw a piece of wood across the fence to support the back of the wood, its what I do on my saw.
A fine blade will help but not solve the problem.

Sounds like your blade isn't square to the table, or have I got the wrong end of the stick. Can you adjust the motor? Or perhaps shim up the table.

Pete Martin, who used to work on Good Woodworking (and sadly died six years ago tomorrow) used to have radial arm saw, but said that the trick was never to move the setting on the saw. Once you have it square to the table and to the rear fence leave it like that. Then you make jigs to hold the workpiece at an angle to the blade. That way you don't need to worry about the stops (which aren't always perfect on lots of machines).
