A final thought. This may not be relevant but if you use the Henle urtext app for scores (which I do for piano), this is optimised for iPad and there is a button in the app in bottom left corner of screen that records against the score. It is surprisingly useful for listening back to yourself and you can also add a bluetooth pedal page turner very cheaply. The iPad comes into its own for this.

Thanks, AJB - haven't heard of this app. My wife uses musescore on a pc for the writing part...doesn't work well on the ipad though...
