I noticed that when I slide my fence to the furthest position from the blade, the one end is raised above the table. So I loosened the two nuts holding the fence rail in place and noticed that the holes for the bolts are oversized. Great! a little wiggle room for me to adjust the rail to be parallel with the table. But no! .. on the one side, the bolt/nut can only be positioned in one place because of the casting shaping underneath, else the nut is not able to rotate

Has anyone else come across this issue or have an idea how to resolve it?

I have the fence on the right of the blade as I find that more comfortable. But for those that keep it on the left. Are you able to remove the fence from the table without tools?

I have the BS350 and solved the oversized hole issue by replacing the fence with the Axminster replacement. I drilled and tapped the edge of the table for the two M6 bolts that came with the fence and all is right with the world.

I don't know if you have the same room on your BS300, but on the BS350, the stock fence can be removed from the left side of the blade by tilting the table 45 degrees and sliding the fence off.

Can't you just remove the fence by opening the top door on the bandsaw

You may have the same problem I have with the BS400 in that the fence can only be removed by opening the top door to make enough room for it to twist out, then slide off the bar. Not come across the actual problem you have, but have you spoken with Record, as they may replace it for you if it's new or within warranty.

They'd need to replace the whole cast iron top, but I doubt that would help as the casting must be the same on them all.

Thanks - the fence does annoy me, but not enough to justify spending another £100 on it (just spent £50 on better guides)

Honestly, this saw has so many poor decision choices. It makes you wonder if they actually had anyone actively using the damn thing when prototyping. I won't be buying Record again, this is my second purchase that has turned out to be a bad buy.

Here is the nut in question. Notice how it barely turns due to the obstruction of the casting. So although the hole is oversized, you can't actually move it about in the hole as it locks into a single place when you tighten it.

Why the hell would they design it like this?      :x :x :x :x :x :!: :?:

Personally I have tried most things the only thing I have not tried is to put and extra washer under the back holding bolt to see if that will push it down might just give that a try when i get my saw fixed.

Can you relieve the casting enough for the nut to move to where you want it to?

Probably, but I think it would be easier and quicker to just drill new holes in sensible places

good idea but not under warranty .

Yes, it would be a bit of a risk. But I have already had mine 2 years, so if anything is going to fail, it will be replacement parts. However, it hasn't annoyed me enough to do it just yet ...

Hi again has anyone tried to lay the fence the other way large flat side down ,then it will possible to bolt on a larger re saw fence without drilling any holes going to give it a go when when I get my saw working hopefully this week end.
