I made a start on these today.

They are a set of doors for my landlord for one of the units close to mine. I got both frames assembled ready to take the T&G boards.

I fitted a new frame for them yesterday in preparation for hanging them. :D

Sure. It is basic stuff though. I cut through mortices with my morticing machine and the tennons were cut on one of my radial arm saws fitted with a Dado head.

Once I had fitted these togther I then made a rebate for the T&G panels using a router fitted with a home made jig.

Running the router around the inside edges of the frame I made stepped cuts until the rebate was 1" deep.

After completing this I used a chisel to square up the corners. My next job is to add the diagonal braces and then fit the T&G panels after a good sanding and sealing inside the rebate.

interested in seeing the end result. seems like an unusual way of making FLB gates.

What do you find unusual Rob? Is it the fact that I used the router for the rebates? that is unusual I have to admit.

Or the fact that its usual to only rebate the styles and top rail. The mid & bottom are left thinner and the boarding run through so no water gets trapped in the bottom rebates.

Tmber also looks quite thin for the size or are you using very thick boards?

As Jason has said and then normally bare face tenon the mid and bottom rails. For eg. 4x2 for the head and legs and 4x1 1/4 for the mid and bottom rails then rebate with a router. Recently I`ve been fitting the panels diagonally in T&G which on smaller doors/gates has removed the necessity to diagonally brace and with a pair creates a nice herringbone effect finish.
Just my way of doing it not the only way obviously.

Yes the boards are 3/4" T&G on these. If I were making a gate I would use the method described using thinner stock for the lower rails but with these being so large I wanted to brace it as much as possible.

Got them finished ready to hang today.

I also had time to repair some tables for the furniture company in between working on the doors.

I should be hanging the doors tomorrow.

I got the doors fitted last week but have been waiting for the landlord to cut the wall out to increase the entrance. Anyway he did this on Friday so here are the photos of them fitted.

He has asked me about another set for the unit next door to this one so it looks like I am getting busier. :D
