:? Well, that's what it looks like.

I need to get inside a power supply and the screws are buried deep down some holes. I've got the right bit in my set of bits but it's a hex driver and won't go down the hole nor is there anything on the set of bits to tell me what it's called.

Imagine putting a dado (had to get that one in :D ) in the end of a flat bladed screwdriver. Anyone know what these are called or where I can get a proper screwdriver to fit?

Only ever seen them as hex bits Roger. In "Security Bit" sets. No idea what they're called. Last time I needed one I made one from an old screwdriver.

Cheers

Dunno but there is a couple in this set. (far right, and one or two near it) and closest at the bottom If you don't want to lay out the cash - I can lend you the three or four bits from my set in the post and see how you get on. No doubt after never needing them for 5 years I'll find an urgent job the minute I don't have them!

Thanks, guys. Yup..that's it...spanner screw.

Adam...many thanks for your kind offer but I also have a set and the hex body is too large for the hole.

What's the best way of slotting the screwdriver? needle file? My angle-grinder is a bit too large

I would make one if you can from an instrument screw driver (parallel at the tip not flared) I could probably find one in the tool catalogues for electrical companies someone like RS components but I am sure it would be at some rip off price.

assuming the screwdriver bit is decent quality, then rather than a needle file, i would find a cheap 12volt drill, (lidl?) and use the grinding wheels
