I've been turning for a few years and I've just upgraded to a second hand Wadkin bzl lathe. It has the option to turn on the back of the headstock but im having trouble removing the faceplate that came attached, its really firmly on there. Does anyone have any tips on how to remove it?

Warm the centre with a blowtorch until it too hot to touch…lock the spindle and pull the outer edge towards you… remember its a left hand thread.

As above. You could also screw a piece of batten to it to give you far more leverage.

Is it definitely the spindle below the hole in the plate, just looks like it isn’t on the video
I decided to try the leverage option before the blow torch and it worked! Thank you so much for the advice!

Many people (inc. me) cut a washer from a plastic bottle, a milk carton or similar (I used a Dettol bottle, it's heavier plastic) to live permanently on the register to prevent this sticking.
