Hello the main body finish was chestnuts cellulose sanding sealer followed by their friction polish and acrylic paints for the hats and buttons.
My one bodge job from yesterdays snowmen 
his cap peak was not robust enough so took of the cap and
flattened his head turned him a new hat then a couple of noses and buttons and voila
