Couple of pieces ive made to practice my joinery. First is a cabinet made from some warped construction lumber i has and some Sapele. Not sure what the drawer front is but it was a pig to work with. Turned the door pull on the drill press. Second is a little box i made to test out my Donkeys Ear shooting board. Again, unsure of the wood. Very light but nice grain. A lot learned in both peices

The ripple is very pretty

That looks seriously nice. The turning is very precise.
I take it the tuning slide maintains its position just by being a tight friction fit .
Regards
John
You are right about the tight fit. It doesn't seem to let any air escape, as the air pressure is probably far to low. The main problem is them seizing or being loose enough to move too freely.
This is the first one I have fitted, and although it worked perfectly outside the whistle, it was too tight when installed. I had to resort to fine, valve grinding paste to make it work properly.

I managed to 3d print some ends for sash templates today, similar to some that I had already but a subtly different size to match my sash ovolo planes.

Can I cast them in brass? Well I’m going to try 😎View attachment 169686
Ohhh make sure you document that. Very interested if it works.

It never fails to amaze me how much music comes out of such a simple instrument in the right hands. Have a little listen to this video of 'The Last Rose of Summer' at the guy with the Irish tin whistle. Right at the top of his game - what a joy!

Finally finished my Danish stool build following Richard McGuires plans. A very rewarding but challenging build especially as this was the first piece of furniture I have made.
Beech and black paper cord finished with BLO and a coat of wax.

Special thanks to @johnnyb for guidance and help when I was stumped.

This is an electric meter cupboard which Ive made for my son, Ive posted it not because of its joinery but Im particularly pleased with its electric/industrial look, the galvanised panels were salvaged from an old Dimplex Storage heater rear panel. The main body of the cupboard will be inset into the wall leaving it just 30mm proud and covering any screws and holes, and I expect he will gloss paint the woodwork.

Agree - love that table and the live edge on the fall section… only question is how does the leg look in real life - the photo makes it look quite heavy against the wood…
