The face-frames on my kitchen are going to be made from oak. Hopefully these are going to be constructed using trend pocket hole screws and then joined to the carcesses, again using pocket hole screws. Will these screws be suitable to use with oak as I've read that the oak can become stained by using the wrong screws. If not suitable, can you get a brass pocket hole screws

Hi TSB, Have a look at the latter part of Mailees thread in projects, Digit describes what info you are after, hth.
Rich.

Yes I've read that project, which is where I got the information on oak being stained. I suppose the answer I want to know is how far does the staining travel as pocket hole screws are screwed from the back of the wood

i always use this approach to face frames, and i have made alot of kitchens. The screws have a coating, so they have never stained the oak in my experince. These form a strong joint, and theres no waiting for glue to dry.

I'm pretty sure that Kreg pocket hole screws are zinc plated. Don't know about the Trend ones though.

I've used the trend pocket hole screws pretty extensively in oak and ash without any staining issues.
