I bought something similar, in aluminium, from an NEC Art Show,some years ago. (I'll look it out and photograph it.) It's served me well enough. Pictures still hanging with no problems.

Easily made as a diy project with some hardwood blocks and studding. seems simple enough and adjustable.

I use these when I'm doing boxes or any squared corners. Easy to use and always hold at 90 degrees, with a 45 degree slot for cutting:
