The latest edition tumbled through my letter box this morning - only had time for a quick flick but looks to be full of interesting stuff including a piece on "Olly's First Stand" - a nicely finished oak table/stand by our own OPJ.

Well done =D>

Philly got a nice mention too. I've only had a quick flick too but I must say I am very much enjoying this mag.

Yes, lots of really good stuff. I particularly like the Irish rocking chair. I've wanted to create something flowing like that for years, but I've never been able to come with a design. Looks like I'm snookered now, I can't imagine improving on that.

I've re-read John Brown's obit today. If Nick has half as much to write about when I go, I'll be happy. It sounds like he had more than his fair share of the long night of the soul, but it also makes my life look just a tad bland. I wish I'd met him. I laughed out loud when I read about his dislike of being edited :)

Still more to read yet.

Cheers
Steve

Yup :)

Edit - the really clever tip is on page 72, 'Tip of the Day' from Justin Williams...that's one to commit to memory :) - Rob

Thank you everyone. :D I like to think this will be the first of many more to come!

I can't find much to fault in this issue, although I was a little disappointed not to see the next installment of Wood School. But, I've spoken to Nick and that will return in the next issue with a look at sharpening. Best issue of BWW yet? Quite possibly so! It also felt thicker than it has done in the past. :)

Thanks, everyone (though especially to all the contributors, your cheques are in the post). Sorry about Wood School: we just ran out of space and time. The rocking chair is fantastic. I'd love to take a trip over to Ireland just to see it.

To my eternal regret, I learnt more about John Brown over the last few weeks since his death than in the 15 years we knew each other. He was an extraordinary person, and I only wish his influence could have had an impact on a wider audience.

If anyone has any ideas or contributions for future issues do please contact me.

Nick

Not all magazine articles are easy to follow (particularly to those fairly new to woodworking). I'm sure they make sense to the author but they don't all succeed in getting the story across. However, OPJ's article in BW was great. Very clear and informative. Keep up the good work OPJ (and Nick & Steve of course).

Cheers,
Gower :D

Thank you, Gower. Although a lot of credit should really go to Nick for that, I think he did a great job in dissecting the article in to smaller pieces that are much easier to manage and more pleasing to the eye. :)

It's taken me until this morning to read your article properly Olly, (that's how good the magazine was!) and I have to pass my congrats again to both you and Nick.

Excellent work - I look forward to seeing more, and Well done Nick. This magazine goes from Strength to Strength!
