apologies to those who may have seen the shop elsewhere, though it is different now as it`s been evolving. So off we go :-
CIMG4007.jpg

Table saw with out feed table doubling up as a router table, the fence just lifts off.
CIMG4006.jpg

I`m using the outfeed table as a bench at the minute as i`m still trying to get round to building a new bench. The out feed table also supports the timber being cut at the RAS.

Back of shop with sink, storage & speakers

My favourite corner, the lathe.

CIMG4013.jpg

Temporary workbench & SCMS stand, behind it on the wall a board i hope to mount some hand tools on in easy reach of the new bench.

The new bench in kit form  8 c/f of oak acclimatising nicely.
Hope you like.
Cheers,

Doug

Lovely shop Doug.

All looks to be extremely tidy and orderly, as it should be in my view :)

Is this a hobby or professional shop?

Cheers, Ed

blimey, that's cleaner than my living room!!!, why is the rad so high? very nice setup nonetheless, thanks for showing.

Rich.

Thanks for the replies.
Ed,
I make part of my income from the shop, so from that point it is a professional shop, but it`s also my hobby especially the turning. The newel post on the out feed table is one of a pair for a paying customer.
Shim,
Not heard it called an over hander, but it is a great machine, the blades are slightly skewed in the block so the finish is excellent.
Rich,
It looks cleaner than it is due to the brightness of the daylight tubes, though i will admit to have had a clean up before i took the photos. Don`t believe what Mr Garnham says   .
I put the rads high up the wall so they had free air round them, the middle one would have been under the out feed table if i hadn`t.

Oooh! that Axie dust collector looks sexy, how good is it?

Its very good, i`m happy with it, worth the extra for the fine filter.
I was going to site it in the shed that joins the on the back of the shop, but that would have also extracted all the heat as well!! So the fine filter was a good compromise.
Doug.

Doug, what's happened to the dust extraction box from behind your mitre saw? Still no guard on the surface planer, I see... [-X

:D

Olly,
The Ras is now where the SCMS used to be so i`ve taken the box to pieces, but do intend to re-use it on the RAS when it`s up & running properly. The SCMS isn`t often in the shop now, but i needed it for those newel posts.
I`ve managed to source a guard for the planer, though after all these years planing without one it will take some getting use to & remembering to put it on  . I am getting better H&S wise, but shamefully it`s only because number one son is getting more interested in woodworking. Thats also why the crown guard is so low as a certain knife is also missing, I should have put a disclaimer that guards were removed for photographic purposes
On a plus side i`m getting closer to making the bench, just need to source some linear bearings.

Cheers,
Doug.

That's a great use of space there. I like the TS/Outfeed arrangement. That's how I should have done it.

Doug,

weren't you called something else previously?

Still no dust!

Still no shavings!

Still no guard on that planer!!!!!!!!!

Great tour though...........thanks again. Is that DW RAS a new addition?

Mike

Bear
Thanks,It`s a record 300E.

Tom
Cheers, it`s taken a couple of goes, but i`m happy with the router/out feed table now.

Mike
Yes, but Dave L kindly sorted it for me.
As for shavings, look on the floor in photo`s 1 & 5
The RAS i bought off Staffie from this forum, i did have one many years ago but sold it when i had to put all my gear in storage & i didn`t have enough room for everything. Such is life when you move house.
Ive got a guard honest, but it covers the blades  .

Doug.

Doug, I look forward to seeing future progress on your workbench. :) I'm still some way off starting mine...!

Your workshop looks great. That planer is a beauty
I like the look of your router table as well, very smart.
I have been doing a re jig of my workshop in Gloucester and this post puts me to shame, mine is way too dusty
Cheers mate

Nice tour, very tidy 'shop...agree with Ed here, as they should be. Did I see hand tools, or am I missing somat? - Rob

Rich.
Thanks Mate. i`m very pleased with the router table.
E-mail sent before reading this thread, apologies.
Enjoy TT.

Rob.
Thanks for your kind words.
In the first photo tucked behind the conduit, between the head board in clamps & the black hose is a Veritas Dove tail saw  . How many hand tools do i need,
Only kidding, the hand tools are stored in cupboards & drawers, though when the bench is finished i will be hang some of the hand tools on the beech board that is behind the SCMS.

Cheers,
Doug.

Hello all, first post here as I've just been reading thorough all the forum!

Doug B : Lovely workshop!

I'm very new to wood working, I have yet to try my hand with hardwoods and I was wondering how much your "8 c/f of oak" cost?

Thanks

Pete
