Thought I'd join in the spirit of sharing pics of projects , since boxes seem a popular theme at the moment - here's one I did earlier (quite a while earlier actually)

Made of oak reclaimed from a shipyard, it's one of a series I did (you can see in one pic it's stood on top of a stack of similar boxes). Most if not all were constructed by splitting and bookleafing single boards. This ones approx 16"9"x7" fitted with loose trays and bottoms are lined with blue baize.Finished in Beeswax.

I know the photos are a bit rough (I'm just happy I have some pics as a lot seem to be lost/missing )

Im guessing that the top and bottom panels are let into grooves in the sides, but how do you (does anyone) fix the bottoms of the lift out tills - are they also fitted into rebates?

Cheers Mike

Yes and .........yes. Although I'm sure there are plenty of other ways, thats the method employed here.Sorry there are no WIP pics didn't occur to me at the time ( I have been very slack in taking pics of work so even my record of completed stuff is less than comprehensive and what I did have seems mostly elusive at the mo:cry:.)

lovley box there, i like it.

Thanks Shim20 , really enjoy making them.
If I get the chance later this year I may make a few more - they always go down well at christmas.
More recently I've been making turned boxes from a variety of woods donated by friends and neighbors (did B&Q have a sale on chainsaws?)I might post some pics in the lathe forum .

Looks like you've salvaged some interesting oak there. I know most people would've preferred dovetails at the corners but, with today's glues, finger joints will be more than just fine. :)
