In this instance it sounds like it might be more to do with your selection technique?

MM

Better to sack them before they start than having to suffer them on 3 months probation.
I reckon you have shown a discerning level of foresight!

Having been a "mental health" worker for a number of years, I would suggest that the particular term used may cause offence, however I know what you mean and sympathise.

Personally I think it's very difficult if not impossible, to get a good picture through an interview, it's better to see how they perform over a few days. Not that this is really feasible in the real world.

I thought pejorative words, and phrases, were meant to be offensive.

A pejorative[1] (also term of abuse, term of disparagement, or derogatory term) is a word or grammatical form of expression that expresses contempt, criticism, hostility, disregard and/or disrespect. A term can be regarded as pejorative in some social or cultural groups but not in others, e.g., hacker is a term used for computer criminals as well as quick and clever computer experts. Sometimes, a term may begin as pejorative and eventually be adopted in a non-pejorative sense (or vice versa) in some or all contexts.

I think we may have a nutter running are car boot sales he has got it in for disabled people, in fact most people only have to read his website.

When i showed my blue badge i was told this is privet property and that badge does not mean a f... here and he said park at the far end of the line. not the first time this has happened.

The trouble is that if it is private property then he may not be wrong

ETA: Parking on private land

If you park on private land, such as supermarket and cinema car parks, your blue badge may not give you any special permission to park. You will need to check the signs for any rules about whether you can use your badge.

Yes, looks like your Blue Badge might not mean a F*** there.

Hampshire Police won a test case at the Netley Traction Engine rally, along the lines of. If the Public may take their vehicles on to private land, then that land becomes subject to all of the road traffic acts! So vehicles have to road worthy, drivers have to be of age, etc, etc.

I would have thought that indirect discrimination under The Equality Act 2010 would be the one to try, it seems to be the catch all.

The guy was keen enough, once he had been offered the job he never stopped emailing me saying how much he was looking forward to starting, the only problem was he could never actually get to work to start.................
After a fair few chances I called his previous boss (who apparantly was refusing to let my new employee leave because he was so important) only to find he had been dismissed 3 weeks ago for never turning up to work because he had at least 2 relatives funerals to attend every week, nan, grandad, sister, mum dad, uncle aunty, and also had contracted lots of major illnesses and diseases over the last 3 months etc etc.

NUTTER.................. surely it's just easier to come to work than make up a web of deceit, he phone up my mate for a job a day later and told another load of porkies.

I think you are lucky Bob, if he had started and spread all of those diseases around your shop you wouldn't have had any staff at all.

Nope, that's not a N****r, that's a work shy lying little s***e. Although I dislike the term, a N****r would not have turned up to work because; a, the bug the CIA had placed in his brain told him not to, b, the workplace was surrounded by lizards pretending to be people waiting to take him away, You were a member of an ancient religious sect who was going to eat his liver.

You are confusing the type of person who is living a different reality, e.g. n****r/person with Mental Health Difficulties, with the sort of person who cannot tell the truth and has to fabricate lies constantly, e.g. politician. If you state that "politicians need not apply", you will probably attract a more reliable class of applicant.
