Roy.

The mind boggles :?

Whenever there is only one side given of a story, take a large pinch of salt.

Given that few absurd things in the world seem to register with me anymore (one of the country's biggest villains is paid off with one of the country's biggest pensions, for example), this does seem particularly absurd.

Although Jake does make a good point, we have only one side of the story, and given that there is no record of the event, could this even be wind-up? Both scenarios [scenarii?] are unpalatable.

I've had just two brushes with police officers in the last couple of years, one after a car prang (very impressed with the initial handling, less so with the legal aftermath) and once when I challenged an offender (2 hours later I was being interrogated for being a paedophile), so I can well believe that this actually happened.

We live in a godforsaken world.

Aah, well. He got a ticking off, he didn't get shot.

I can't see why he got a ticking off, and as a motorist, with current running costs what did he have to laugh at I wonder?
Perhaps they'll find a way of taxing laughter, that should stop it better than any copper!

Roy.

He wasn't GO, he was laughing at a joke and the copper saw him laughing and pulled him over.
Bet it stopped him laughing! Mind you I think the copper is a comedian.

Roy.

I could understand him being pulled over if he had sneezed, now that can be really nasty. Do you know that F1 divers I am told learn to pinch themselves if they feel a sneeze coming on :x .

Who is making the laws over there??No sneezing,no laughing, driving on the wrong side of the road with the steering wheel on the wrong side if the vehicle,no guns not even for practice, paying way to much tax for everything, high gas, high tool & wood prices .How much do you make ? Ok send it in and you can live here.Oh I get it you guys are back to being serfs again...Time for a Tea Party!! Hang in there we will join you...

We got guns 8)
But the licencing is quite restrictive....
you sort of have to 'justify' what you do with them, but its not a problem if you have legitimate reasons for owning firearms ( sporting reasons obviously ! )

I own several firearms, all for sporting reasons... just don't get enough time to use them as much as I'd like to 8)

Not hand guns Jenx, it is a specific offence in this country to carry any weapon for self defence believe it or not.

Roy.

8) :p
I'm talking of 12Bore O/U Shotguns (x2)
.22 Rimfire
.243 Rimfire Sporting Rifle ( which if one gets on the wrong side of , at up to about 4 miles.. will see one off, rather rapidly. )

Pistols - I'm not so sure about.. never been involved with anything other than BB Guns and Air Pistols on the handgun front.
I thought ( perhaps mistakenly ), that there were still legitimate ranges where sporting ( target ) handguns were used, but kept on site, secure. :?: .. I could be wrong though.

Sometimes.. things never cease to surprise you..
About 3 years ago, I bought an ornamental Claymore ( huge two-handed sword ). from a shop called Plan 9 in Aberdeen.. carried it out of the shop.. walked about a mile and half back to the car with it, no wrapping over it or anything - in full view of all and sundry, right through Union St, the main shopping thoroughfare through the town, ...
nobody said a word  ... it was only when I got home and my wife and kids asked how I got that back to the car that I even thought anything of it. Probably should have got 30 days for that !!
--There's nothing on first looking to distinguish an ornamental sword from the 'real deal' ... the blade doesn't have a fully engaged hilt into the handle ( not obvious at all ! ), and it's not sharpened.. thats the only difference.
To all intents and purposes, it looks totally authentic.
The thing is about 6 foot long... and there's no real ambiguity about what it is ... its a big bloody sword !!
not a cheep out of anyone, ! Bizarre !! :D 8)

Yep! The crims carry, I can't.
The official line is is if you carry you are more likely to be a victim.
I also believe in Santa Claus!
