I'm sure some of you might find this interesting.
A link to find out what was the UK No 1 single the day you were born, or any day for that matter.

http://hit40uk.com/birthday

fyi No 1 on my birthday was Rolf Harris with 'Two little boys', (and no i dont have a twin brother.. @ :) )

I have to tell you, because it's so impressive and "sad" at the same time, we have a chap at work who can tell you this off the top of his head what any number one was on any given day since the charts began. He actually owns all the singles too. He can also quote all kings and queens of england from whenever you want to start.
The bit I really like is he watches a 405 line black and white TV set through a standards converter, as they stopped transmitting 405 line some years ago.

Englebert Humperdink - Release Me. Not sure what to make of that really :)

Oh for crying out loud...

in the midst of the genesis of many of the greatest rock acts/tracks ever, what was my birthday number one?

Donny Osmond - Young Love

Chris Farlowe - Out Of Time (apparently)

Anyone ever heard of him? I'm assuming that the title of the song is 'Out of Time', but then again it might be the name of the group - it was the 60's after all!

Steve

Memories are made of this

Dean Martin

Sweet, sweet memories you gave-a me
you can't beat the memeories you gave-a me

Take one fresh and tender kiss
Add one stolen night of bliss
One girl, one boy
Some grief, some joy
Memories are made of this

Don't forget a small moonbeam
Fold in lightly with a dream
Your lips and mine
Two sips of wine
Memories are made of this

Then add the wedding bells
One house where lovers dwell
Three little kids for flavor
Stir carefully through the days
See how the flavor stays
These are the dreams you will savor

With His blessings from above
Serve it generously with love
One man, one wife
One love through life
Memories are made of this
Memories are made of this

He of the splitting trews. My mothers fave, notsure whether the two were connected. "Out of time" better known as the Stones Version though I happen to have both.
cheers Mike

Spooky!

Cathy's Clown by the Everley Brothers.

And my wife's name?

Yep!

I'm another thats too old, dunno if cos leccy wasn't invented or they hadn't discovered vinyl, of course there was no such thing as a chart list and Alan Freeman still had to coin the phrase "Pop pickers" Mind you we did have Jean Metcalf on a sunday morning with Two Way Family Favourites for BFPO.
