Is New Yankee Workshop on Sky TV. I don't have Sky but if it is on, I can get the programme recorded, all I need is the channel and days its on. Cheers

Try channel no# 250,251,252 on sky its the Discovery home and leisure channels normally weekdays at around 5am :)

Hasn't been on lately - Great British Woodshop is on at about 6am at the minute (more repeats)

I don't know what Sky are playing at. They seem not to have purchased the latest series of NYW and the likes at one point at least one channel was about woodwork and now you struggle to find a single programme at a reasonable hour.

Yes - it's now called Real Time and Real Time Extra.

They are not at all consistent with NYW transmissions. Currently there are no regular slots http://www.realtimetv.co.uk/_listings/index.shtml gives the schedules for Real Time and Real Time + but I can't find Real Time extra listings there. Digiguide http://library.digiguide.com/lib/progra ... -6018/DIY/ shows only one episode scheduled.

I'm sure that some members of this forum would be able to help with recordings of episodes you want/need. PM me if you want!

Of course, NYW :norm: is about to start its 20th season in the States - we have only been shown the first 17 seasons in the UK (each season of 13 episodes). If you look at http://www.newyankee.com/catalog.php then you can see what 'might' be available and what interests you. Of late, Real Time have only shown the 16th and 17th season a few times - the Hall Mirror scheduled is the first episode of series 17.

We were normally a year behind the US and if things had gone as expected we would have seen series 18 on RT at the start of 2007, but that did not happen. I thought we may be getting the later series last year when they got some newer This Old House episodes, but no sign of anything new.

There seem to be very few instructional programs now - part of the dumbing down/lowest common denominator/fluffy/unchallenging way that TV is going.

It looks as though SKY will probably not be showing any more of the NYW series.

Does anyone know of a web site where I can view or copy the series even for a payment.

regards
alan

It isn't Sky, it's Discovery Real Time, Sky just transmit it as part of their package.

Weirdly a search of their website finds nothing for New Yankee Workshop, and there are no episodes scheduled for as far as their listings go.

There is, however, another chance to see Tommy Walsh gurning at the camera...

I've just tried to contact Discovery to find out what is going on - guess what? Their 'Contact Us' email page doesn't work. You have to choose an option from a dropdown which contains - no option, and the system won't work without it.

Priceless.

They haven't mentioned NYW on their web site for ages :x . As for scheduled programs, Digiguide only shows Hall mirror, Feb 1st, 6:30 am. As for getting anything like information from Discovery I think you are going to be unlucky. Others in the past have tried and got nowhere or just 'thank you for your comments' type automated replies.

You can buy videos or DVDs of most of the episodes from NYW direct or the plans from Brimarc in the UK. I don't believe there are any websites that allow you to view episodes.

You may be able to find some episodes available for download using Bittorrent or maybe some of us have some of them  (see my earlier reply!)

Oh Misterfish, how much I agree, it makes me angry sometimes :x

It's not just the documentaries either, this 'dumbing down' seems to extend to just about all TV these days :(

That's the way the world is going now a days, I'll hazard a guess that the vast majority of us on this forum are on the wrong side of 50.
My son has recently downloaded a lot of copies of the original Eagle comic, (remember it?) and it was the centre page cut away drawings that started me on an engineering career.
Wouldn't raise a few dozen sales today I imagine, no batteries need for a start.

no more new NYW on Sky??

Just as well I have 30 odd shows recorded, at least if I`ve got to watch repeats,I can view them in an order I like.....

need to get a DVD recorder, to tranfer from Sky+ box, and keep before SWMBO deletes them for EastEnders

For the time being - they same to recycle the same set periodically

Perhaps they should re-name the channel....`American Tatooed Dwarves Who Turn Crap Cars & Bikes into Crap Cars & Bikes `
How far down can you dumb ?
And to make matters worse, the same shows are shown on several other sky channels as well !!!!!

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
