Yesterday I had two new central heating radiators fitted. The fitter left the old ones outside my porch.
They're still there.

Do you think I should contact my Insurance Company, and advise them that my area isn't so crime ridden as they think?

Wow last time I left something metal out side it was gone in 20 mins

Pete

A friend of ours put a notice on a fridge in the garden "good working order! free to a good home" it stayed there for a week with no takers, so for fun they replaced the sign with one that said " £20 good working order" it was nicked that night...

I did exactly the same with a big 28" CRT TV I used to have when I lived in Ashford, Kent. I even taped the remote to it! It sat there for just over a week. Then I put a for sale sticker on it and it was swiped before I'd got back into the house

My radiators are still there because the scrappies haven't been past just yet. Unusual, but I daresay it will come to pass. 8)
Usually I leave scrap at the bottom of the drive, but I fear these rads are just too heavy! I'll go find a marker pen!!!

:ho2 :ho2 :ho2

As long as they are not nicking stuff, it seems quite good that there are teams of roving scavengers picking up all the scrap metal, isn't it? It saves householders making trips to the 'civic amenity site' or scrapyard and makes sure that the maximum proportion gets recycled.

Noooo, never go past the church. Satnavs blow up and compasses get confused and move in never ending circles. Weird folk the Britly's.

Yes Andy... The local scrappies have a fair speaking relationship with me. They know that anything I leave at the bottom of my drive can be taken. So I agree with you on the recycling aspect, of course.

it's just going to be my luck to be stuck with them until I can arrange a lift onto my roof rack, to take them to the tip myself!!!

I expect them to pay a call before Xmas though!
Cheers and Merry Christmas.

Well Dave,

Santa is, after all, an anagram.

Price of scrap is down at the moment, so that could be why no takers.

Another reason.

Scrappy's are licensed down this way and regularly pulled up with the Plods thus hindering the Pikeys.

I have a "tame" scrappy. I leave metal behind the hedge and just drop him a text. He's always collected it within a couple of days.

Why do we call the boys in blue, 'Plod'? They don't do much plodding around Birmingham.

They get posh cars, powerful motorcycles and blingy mountain bikes!!

Last week I had a new central heating boiler fitted. Yesterday I was loading up the old cylinder and some pipework. I carried the cylinder to the road, put it down in my drive and went back for the pipework. When I returned, it was taken, 30 seconds max. Fortunately he was still lifting it into his truck when I returned and a "discussion" ensued, followed by threats of violence to my person.
If I'd left it on the pavement I could have understood it, but he had to enter my drive to get it.
An hour later I had weighed it in and got £92.50 for it.

I know the feeling Steve. I lost the undercarriage to my Triton Mk 3, because I forgot I had propped it against my side gate whilst clearing up in the shop. Inadvertently, I left it overnight, and next day 'twas gone! Unfortunately I didn't witness the crime.

As for my rads, I don't think I'd get £92.50 for those!

Merry Crimbo :ho2
