According to a post on FOG "Dominofix connectors for the D500 are at a stage of having completed a 1000 production trial..." You may be right about a newer version of the tool, but it would be a mistake IHMO for Festool not to make these compatible with the thousands of original Domino 500s out there, unless there's a technical reason for it e.g. deeper plunge required? The other thing that occurs to me is that in terms of the debate between the 500 and XL 700 Domino machines this, from my perspective at least, decisively tips the balance in favour of the 700.
Edited to add:- Actually, now I think about it, a redesigned 500 in the style of the 700 (better fence, pins, ergonomics) but with a deeper plunge may get a lot of people upgrading their original Dominos - myself included.
Cheers, Pete
