Hi Folks

I'm a newbie to the forum's and would like some advice, I've been asked to build a painted welsh dresser for a friend as a wedding present, which I'm happy to do but he wants a drawer runner that he has seen which I haven't got a clue what it is so I thought I would ask to see if anyone has come across them before, this is his description to me.

They were mounted on the bottom of the draw in the middle, made from steel and have a soft close integrated into them, the only thing he could tell me was they have something red on them?

I know it's a bit vague but I'm at a loss on this one, as a keen amateur I've never come across a single unit like this before.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks

Darren

Those drawer slides look the business Philly and are probably what Darren's customer means. Now SWIMBO has seen them, she wants them for the kitchen!

The table looks great, esp in walnut. Now I have some idea of what to do with that board of English walnut I've been keeping. It's about time I tried something a bit more contemporary in design.

I wouldn't pinch your design, but purely out of interest, when you worked the flutes, did you use a sloping 'sled' template and router, or did you hand plane them with a shaped iron and half-round sole?

Cheers

No problem!
I did make the prototype fluting with hand planes - it would of taken ages for me to do the whole table. Enter router stage left........
Philly :D

Cheers Philly.

btw, I liked the hat and coat stand, by the door of your workshop! Looked sturdy. Able to take the weight of a router!

Having sold my Woodrat, I now wish I hadn't. But I was warned!
Oh well maybe the small model will be sufficient, when I decide to make room on a wall...

darren, it would help to know how wide the drawers are going to be.

the blumution that philly has represented are fitted to the underneath at the sides, and work very well, whilst look almost invisible, but there are centre mounted types too.

get onto blum and then try to seek out one of their stockists, or for mail order, try isaac lord in high wycombe.

good luck

paul
