I made this yesterday for my pal's new home. The finish on the numbers is much better than it looks in the photo, and it still has to be varnished. I toyed with the idea of finally figuring out how to use my router to finish around the edge, but he likes it as it is, thankfully.

No idea on the wood. I'm clueless when it comes to identifying wood but I'm guessing it's mahogany.

Animal lover he most definitely isn't, but when he moved in with the missus he had to take the zoo as well. :mrgreen: Mind you, the Staffy gets him out of the house for a couple of hours every day, so he puts up with it. ;)
