MS silverlight?????

my computer seemed to download totally without me knowing this silverlight program, anyone else got it, what is it? not ran it yet, should i?

It's just a plugin steve. Like Flash. It will allow Internet Explorer to view certain websites that use Silverlight fo displaying video, animation, music, etc.

I don't use IE, so I won't be installing it just yet. But it can't do any harm.

ITV Player used to use Silverlight. It was utterly dire. They have gone back to Adobe Flash Player.

This will be because you've got Windows Update set to install automatically. Change the setting to "Download and notify" and you'll be able to better see and control what's going on. It will still download automatically, but then ask you whether to install or not. HTH

I concur, SilverLight is a typical MS web effort. They seem so out of touch with the web.
