Hi all,

For a recently built home library project, finishing-wise we're looking to match some of the dark/rich tones of the wooden panelling in other rooms of the property. The stain used on those rooms is an older one from Morrells, titled "Walnut reproduction oil" code 0090/000B

The problem is we need more, and when i called Morrells and gave them the stain code they unfortunately confirmed it's discontinued. I've tried some samples of their newer stuff but it didn't seem anywhere near to be honest. I know it's a long shot but wondering if any one on forums knows the product well and may know of a close alternative? Or an even longer shot if anyone has any spare they no longer need, i'd ofcourse travel and make it worth your while as much as humanly possible!

Anyway, thanks for taking the time to read! Here are some images of the room, what we're matching to and some images of the stain tin/product etc attached.

W.S. Jenkins in Tottenham still make oil stains, I'm sure they will be able to match the Morrells colour. Have a look at their colour chart and if you send them the photo of the Morrells can with the stain on the label that will help them to give you the best match.

thanks thats really helpful. I called them just now, they're not familiar with any of the Morrells stuff so couldn't say if it would be close to their 'walnut'. And unfortunately dont have any colour charts available for their oil range. So i'd be in guessing land trying to choose which (if any) of theirs would be close enough.

Another source for a match might be Fiddes.

It may be that you'd need to buy different finish colours and do some of your own custom mixing. I don't know if Fiddes can do a custom match for you. Slainte.
