Open the top case and "ping" the blade like a guitar string half way between where it emerges from the frame and the wheel. If its too loose it will reverb and sound bad. a nice clear note shows you are close, a high pitched "ting" is too tight.
I've read this a number of times, but as I ping on my blade I never really know what kind of note I'm aiming for. Has anyone done a YouTube video with sound so we can hear when it's about right?

Youre overthinking this.
You COULD get a digital tuner and tune it to a perfect G, but it doesnt matter.
If it goes DOIIINNNGGG, its too slack.
If it sounds like piano wire stretched to breaking point, its too tight.
A nice clear mid range note is fine.
But yes, there is a utube vidoe of everything. Even someone playing rock guitar on a small bandsaw.
no, i'm not going to go looking for it again   :D

Its a metal wire, there are 6 on most guitars and 88 in a piano.
aint no difference.
And there really IS a video of someone playing heavy metal on a bandsaw, I saw (hah!)it once.
But every machine will resonate at its own best frequency, its not important what note that is.
