Mitre gauge for Dewalt DWE7485-GB

I have never owned or used a table saw before. So at 56 I'm sure some will be thinking 'why do you need one now at your age!?'. Worry not, I thought the same thing for the past year, but as I near retirement (I can AND WILL go at 60) I am trying to put together a kit that will mean I can do all those projects I have dreamed of whilst in work with 30 x 10 year olds running round me.

So I have bit the bullet and bought a Dewalt DWE7485-GB table saw and heavy duty stand (on sale...I've washed the prices for months so got it at what I thought would be a low point - is Black Friday real?).

Anyway...its here...its unboxed and on its stand and its mitre gauge is rubbish.

Does anyone have any recommendations for an after market gauge that fits this aw AND is worth the price?

Please measure, describe and include a photograph of the mitre slots.

Just including the product name means we have to go out and find our own picture of the machine and look for that information.

From what I can see, the mitre slots are inverted T-shaped, so that is an important factor in selecting any aftermarket product.

DWE7485 uses standard US mitre slot 19mm x 9.5mm, so almost all aftermarket gauges should work

Having said that, if you just want to remove the slop, add some painter's tape or another type of tape to the side of the mitre bar to increase its thickness.

Alternatively, do nothing and simply push the gauge to the left or right (all the way through the cut) while pushing it forward to ensure it slides against the same wall of the mitre slot throughout the cut.

I imagine anyone who owns this saw will know what it looks like, and therefore will not need a description or photograph of the mitre slots?

It's a standard US 19 x 19.5mm slot. I'm looking for advice from people who own the saw and have after market mitre gauges that they know work well.

If the slot is a standard size, as we have now established, it will also be standard on other machines to your own particular model.

You thus increase the pool size of your would-be advisors and recommenders by at least an order of magnitude.

If you had questions on a gas supplier, you would be ill-served if only people who have the same Vaillant boiler as you answer.

That's the one I have, it's excellent and accurate, just had to file off a tiny bit at the tip of the pointer that sits in the v shaped slots, it wasn't seating in them quite right. There are some really good quality woodwork tools from hongdui and wnew on banggood. Some other brands on there are a bit ropey. I've also got really good spiral flush trim router bits from there.

I bit the bullet when I purchased my dewalt job site and pre Covid , brexit and all the other stuff got the incra mitre 1000se at a really good price inc the shipping . Can’t fault it , the accuracy and the additional features like the flip stops and the positive stops are more than I need atm but the reviews were exceptional. As mentioned above sites like bangood offer some very good guages for a decent price . I’d have no problem buying from them as I have several of their clones of the expensive red brand and I’m really happy with them..

Indeed. I have two of those Wnew gauges - one configured for the DWE7485, and the other for everything else.

For some reason, the standard slot on my DWE7485 is ever so slightly wider than the standard slots on the bandsaw and router table, so for the price of that Wnew gauge, I figured it wouldn’t hurt to get a second one, to avoid reconfiguring it every time.

@wiley198 - FYI - as much as I like this gauge, different opinions are available, see video below.
- I would not be able to justify the price of Incra or Hongdui gauge for the jobsite saw.

Exactly why I went for it , maybe a little overkill but I know if I invest in a better saw I don’t have to find a new mitre guage. When I set the saw up I only had the cheapo guage that came with the saw. I ended up gluing shims made from a feeler guage and then sanding it to fit. When I got the incra I checked the settings and I was about 1/2 mm out so as far as accuracy it’s more than close eenough..
