Well, the only comments I would make is that the edge will only be as straight as the straight edge guiding it, and that you need a very sharp cutter to get a nice clean edge on the joint.

Like Karl says (and Ed) I'd take a plane over a router or saw for the final finish every time. The other thing with a hand tool is that everything happens so much more slowly, you can knack something up with a router in a blink of an eye, but a plane is much more controllable

Get a nice old 5 1/2 Record off ebay. I did
