Hello everyone
I'm an enthusiastic DIY'er who needs a new side gate that's a bit bigger than the standard offerings (not by much) and with a wife who wants "something nice", so I've joined to try to pick up some tips.
She who must be obeyed likes this (in fairness, so do I), and what I'm trying to work out is how to brace the door without rebating the stiles & top rail and still getting something like full thickness bracing and a bottom rail. I am reasonably confident at having a go at making something like this, but I don't own a router or a drill press etc, so I was thinking half lap joints for the frame, which I could cut with a circular saw, but unless I start planing, I'd need to start with some chunky bits of timber for the frame! Hope my ramblings make some sense, and thanks for reading!!!
