I have a problem with my workshop build. I purchased a continuous dry verge system (which is basically a long peice of pvc plastic with an 's' shaped profile, that clips over the tops of the roof tiles so you don't need to mortar the edges afterwards. Problem is, it was supposed to be installed before the roofing battens as they hold it tightly in place. I didn't know this and have already laid all the tiles so now can't install the continuous verge in a satisfactory way. Obviously I didn't install a cement fibre board either, so I don't have anything to hold mortar in place, so now I don't know how to finish the gable ends.

Any advice? I know you can buy a continuous dry verge system that fits AFTER the tiles are installed, but it's £100 and I could do without that.

Would installing the upvc fascias butted up against the underside of the slate tiles work?

Here's a pic.

Fit a barge board , for example a piece of 6 / 7 or 8 x 1 , scribe to slate if needed and then mastic / silicone joint to help weather proof it .

Cheers Dusty

The Barge board, (not fascia's, they're on the front)! can be nailed/screwed into the rafter you have pictured,
push Snug under the verge slate or tiles, Plumb cut at the top, (ridge) and "box" in the Fascia and soffit at the bottom.
If you have, what we here in Sunny Devon call "Springing", or up country referred to as "sprockets" Where the angle of the roof changes slightly to slow the water down just before the gutter, You'll need to cut and fit a small suitable angled piece to fit and keep the rain out.
Not always best left 'til last, how to fix and seal.
Seal, or "Tosh" in with a good mastic under the tiles if you wish, And use the proper stuff if you go with plastic.
