If it's the thing I think it is, on mine the lock works when the saw is in its lowest position. It's designed to make the saw safer to transport.

sorry mate thats the locking knob ive just fitted. Im on about the bit that locks so you cant push the saw down unless you press in the button. You have the safety button on the handle to stop you pressing the power but you also have the catch on the right hand side which allows you to push down the saw which inturn then opens up the guard.

thanks

Aah gotcha. Yes I know the bit you mean. That would be a bit fiddly to replace given the way it works with the guard. +1 from me on not using the saw without a guard by the way. It wouldn't even cross my mind and I have to admit to doing some questionable things from a safety point of view (including use of the unmentionable dado stack).

Ive not used the saw without a guard. I used it without a blade to test its working and then purchased a blade but not powered it on since as im waiting for the resizer thick washer and now the guard so dont worry its all good.

I dont want to replace the catch thing, I just need to know if there is a way to adjust it as not quite catching.

cheers

D'oh! That was meant to read "without a guard" (homer) ! Amazing the difference a small typo can make to a post! Edited it now for correctness. Stay safe.

Lock Knob arrived today, PITA to fit as you have to take the arm of the saw off the main part but now its fitted so thats a bonus. One thing though is the thing that locks the arm (link plate?) when the saw is at highest point it doesnt seem to lock, the hole or the pin doesnt seem to be fully alligned. Anyone know if theres a way to adjust this?

It does locate if you move it up and down around that point but not as it should normally do.

Safety guard and extras finally arrived yesterday so had a go at fitting it today but its hit and miss working. The trigger thing near the handle unlocks the mechanism and as I push down then the safety guard retreats as it should. problem is that it doesnt always work so when I return the blade back at the top the guard comes back also as it should but if I then go to make another chop the saw will go down but the guard doesnt retreat and also the locking mechanism doesnt always lock it at the top as mentioned above.

Anyone got any ideas?

thanks

Colin

Still getting no where with this, Dont want to use it without the guard but im going to end up losing my finger keep trying to get the guard out the way. Its fitted correctly but I think the trigger is the main cause but cant see how to resolve it.

:( Stupid tools!!

yeah I will post some pictures tonight when I get back home from work.

thanks

Actually I will try and upload a video as that will explain more.
