Jason: thanks for the links. How is Flexi-Veneer used?

I've gotta admit, I've never done any veneering, but I love getting into new stuff. I'll have a gander for some tutorials on-line, I might have some info in a book I've got as well so I should be able to have a crack at it.

I never thought that you could justify asking people to pay for your equipment that you need, I will take this into account next time if it's common practice. Thanks :)

I might even be able to convince them to go for another timber, If I can make a few things that will tie it in to the rest of the room. We'll see.
 
In this situation the only advantage of the flexi would be that it is a bit easier to handle eg it won't split of chip out at teh edge so easily. Its main advantage is where you need to cover a large area which would require the edges of teh individual leaves to be edge jointed as this is done for you so you just glue it on as one big sheet.

For your table you will be using segments of no more than one leaf wide which will require accurate edge jointing along the tapered edges so the flexi will have to be cut into smaller bits anyway.
