The tree was felled because of disease in the lower limbs. It was sad to see it come down but at the same time a win win for me.
I do a lot of work with tree surgeons in London and am always on the hunt for large pieces, particularly Oak. We need another storm!.
We had to take the tree down on the weekend as the grounds lady said we would have had all the offices emptying and calling us murderers.
They had a minutes silence for the tree and my initial plan was just to use the piece to practice using my new Arbortech but they offered to buy the piece back from me so it's right that it's going back to where it was born.
Will keep you informed on proceedings and how I get on in finding a vacuum chamber big enough to treat it.
I'll keep you all informed if I suddenly find myself with an influx of timber.
My other thought was an indoor piece similar to this.
