Locking nut to stud - superglue or studlock?

IMO Super glue & Studlaock are for 'anti vibration' applications.

Really depends on the spec of the locking agent used. For example Loctite 242 will come undone with handtools but something like Loctite 270 will need heating to 270deg C before you will be able to budge it. I have used the permanent retainers to build crank and cam shafts as well as seal cylinder liners that are tested to 200psi.

Thanks Jason, I've never used Loctite 270 but will look out for it. As you say 242 is really an anti-vibration adhesive.
