I wasn't at all sure about this wood. I was going to use it to make the top of a small coffee table, but it just looked horrible before it was worked.

We needed a shelf, so after some sanding and oiling...

The end is more unfinished than I remembered.

And the brackets. Cutting these square freehand is tricky, but I have a jig in mind. I also want to plug the screw holes.

Thats superb mate. There's a lot of mileage in that idea and design. Well done.
 
Thanks for the comments.

Has anyone used lime before? When it was still in its sawn state it was covered in a white powder that brushed off, and had black blotches that sanded out.

Fungus? Sap? Something else?
