Like, Share and Subscribe

Sick of seeing this at the end of youtube videos. Pretty sure everyone knows you can Like, Share and Subscribe and how to do it!!

...Yes I know I can move on, but by the time they have begun saying it, I already want to smack them in the face!

Maybe I'm just a grumpy sod, but it grinds my gears!!

as well as :

- Slow motion effects. Often done with low framerate. It just looks crap! .... it's been done to death
- Attaching the camera to the work piece.
- Intros that are longer than 2-3 seconds
- Crappy Stop motion .... it's been done to death
- Pointing to links in the frame that either don't appear or are way out of sync
- Not showing you what they're making until the end of the video! Just jumping straight into the steps... so you have to scroll to the end, then jump back to beginning.

Having said that ... I think the youtube woodworking community is fantastic! and there are some really amazing channels

Im actually in awe of the quality of videos people are putting out these days. It cant be easy getting the sound right. Camera angles, Lighting, actually doing the work while filming it all on their own.

Compare it to woodworking dvds from just 5 years ago Nd a lot of free content today would blow it away in terms of quality.


Also im a fan of like share and subscribe because sometimes i need prompting its too easy to just let the nwxt video play

I think YouTube are to blame really. These content providers rely on subscribers and likes to generate revenue.

But it's actually quite difficult to like and subscribe from a mobile in landscape view from within the app, which is probably the lion's share of device views these days. YouTube should make it easier

Don't recall seeing that & definitely wouldn't know how to do it, though I tend to only use You Tube for music

What I find annoying is some of the poor quality camera work. You get someone with obviously very good sklls who has made some really neat item, certainly worthy of sharing on youtube. Then they can't be bothered to pay any attention to the video they are creating - close up shots of the workshop floor as they change positions, lovely clear footage of the roof, door and windows, but shaky poorly lit, out of focus or shaky shots of the actual subject. They can make a superb tenoning jig for the table saw, or rotary table for the mill, but knock up a tripod for the camera?? Impossible.

It doesn't make sense to me. I suspect if they were to view the final results they might not want to upload. Just my opinion.

Having said all that, I find youtube such an amazingly useful resource. Even the poorly shot ones are often useful - annoying, but useful.
