I found out about Lemon Oil from ChippyGeoff and I bought some from Axminster it was a Chestnut product and I was very happy with the way that it brought out the grain in the wood. This morning I went to Liverpool FREE pensioner pass,I went Lakeland who also sell Lemon Oil ( Parker&Bailey) it certainly smells of lemons better than the one I bought from Axminster.Geoff will probably come back to me and tell me which is the one that he uses.Parker&Bailey's is a lemon oil and polish.I am looking forward to testing it out on the projects that I am working on.

Many thanks for your post Bryan. It was Chesnut that I used but I will certainly be buying the same as you have. As you said, it gives the wood a wonderful smell as well as bringing out the beauty in the wood.

Geoff yesterday at Lakeland L/Pool it was reduced I bought two bottles £9 98 each bottle is a pint.It was reduced almost byb a half.It smells like you have cut a lemon and squeezed it in your hand.

Thanks Bryan.

I always use Chestnut brand, I find that the lemon smell is stronger when it has dried, when applying I find it can at times make my eyes sting.
I have been using it for several years, eyes should be accustomed by now. :?

Wife is going to the City today, will ask her to have a look in Lakeland, to see if they have any.

Take care.

I clicked on this because I've just been making some scrolled bits from holly and was looking for something that doesn't add significant colour. Very little colour added and a lovely soft touch to the finish.

Jeeze Bryan ,I clicked on to the last post which was yours and thought you had gone on the booze .

A lot of the turners if not most use Chestnut products , and always good reports on them .

Of course this may have changed since i was turning .

Hope you are keeping well . God Bless.

I bought a bottle of this lemon oil from Lakeland in York this afternoon. When we got home I rubbed a bit on our 25ish year old "farmhouse" pine table. Bad mistake. Now I have to do all the table and four chairs, along with a pine sideboard and chest of drawers. I should have bought the other bottle they had in stock, while I was there. They had some orange smelling oil too, same make, but the price was 7.99 instead of 4.99

Martin SORRY. The original price was £7 99 it was reduced to £4 99.I did go back to L/pool on Wednesday and bought two more bottles at £4 99,I will be using it very carefully.

Bryan, it has transformed the old pine chest of drawers, though I must confess, in the years we have owned it, all we have ever used on it is everyday spray polish. It has always looked very dull, but it certainly doesn't look that way now.

Martin.
